Lindsey Buckingham sues Fleetwood Mac for telling him to “Go your own way!”

As an attorney and a fan of classic rock and Fleetwood Mac specifically, I find this lawsuit very interesting.  Fleetwood Mac was formed in 1967 and is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and one of the world’s best selling bands.  Although not a founder of the band, Lindsey Buckingham has been Fleetwood Mac’s lead guitarist on and off since 1975, joining the band at the same time as Stevie Nicks.

Unfortunately, our great rock and roll bands have a difficult time staying together as one unit and in January 2018, the band told him that they would be going on tour without him, apparently not explaining why.  Buckingham claims that he had agreed to do 60 shows with the band but asked them to postpone the tour so that he could do a solo tour.  The band said no.  Buckingham claims he then rescheduled his solo tour, but was then told that he was no longer in the band.

Buckingham has now sued, claiming that he has lost $12 million in revenue from the upcoming Fleetwood Mac tour.

It will be interesting to see how the case turns out.  Have you been involved in a breach of contract situation?  Have you accused someone of committing fraud or telling “little lies.”  “Don’t Stop” until you believe that you have obtained justice.   Cotzen Law can assist you in litigating such a claim.
