Italy Suspends Mortgage Payments While Battling Coronavirus Pandemic

Italy has suspended payments on mortgages for families and small businesses while battling the coronavirus epidemic. The virus has crippled Italy, which has recently closed its borders in light of the more than 9,000 cases of coronavirus within Italy (as of March 10, 2020).

While I’m not sure whether this move is unprecedented, it is a generous move by the government to protect its citizens from losing their homes to banks at a time when many are unable to earn incomes due to the economic slide that would come with the quarantine.
